Laurie Rhodes is an award-winning New York City based photographer specializing in artistic wedding photojournalism, family portraiture, documentary, art and food photography. Apart from her commercial work, she has an evolving fine-art series with whimsical characters, vivid colors and a serious undertone. Her photography has been exhibited throughout the New York metropolitan area including the International Center of Photography.

  Her photographs have been published in THE NEW YORK TIMES, NEW YORK MAGAZINE, BRIDES NEW YORK, MODERN BRIDE, MANHATTAN BRIDE, NEW YORK POST, PHOTO DISTRICT NEWS, GOURMET, PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER, BABY TALK, ADOPTIVE FAMILIES, GLAMOUR and EDIBLE QUEENS. In January, her images appeared in a Filipacchi book entitled STYLISH WEDDINGS. She has been one of the winners of the PHOTO DISTRICT NEWS wedding Top Knots contest for several years¡Xa competition showcasing the newest and most creative techniques of photographing weddings.

In 2006, she was a winner in the B&W International Spider Awards. Regarding her switch from TV executive to award-winning wedding photographer, Laurie was described by a feature in PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER Magazine as "having earned a reputation as one of New York's finest photographers."

Laurie specializes in capturing human moments. Whether a wedding, personal portrait, or documentary project her images reflect the essences of the characters and their stories.

She is currently in a Group Show entitled NEW VISIONS which includes an image from her digital infrared series. Earlier this year her work was in, ¡§Picturing an Ethical Economy" at Trinity Church Museum. Her Portraits of a Farm are currently hanging in the Green Table Restaurant at Chelsea Market. In 2004 she completed a documentary B&W photo project about a diverse group of children learning about peace. She has taught photography in the NYC public school system and a summer art program for young children.

A musician and actress in high school, Laurie moved from her home state of Maine to New York City and built an 18-year career in the entertainment industry. Her work included Broadway Theatre Management, an MBA, production finance at CBS, Executive in Charge of Production, and Vice President of Programming at Paramount Pictures in New York.

In 1997, after her photographs of a film were published in GLAMOUR magazine, people started hiring Laurie to photograph their weddings. Soon after, she decided to pursue photography full-time. She enhanced her existing knowledge with formal training at the International Center of Photography in Manhattan.
